Looking for help with diagnosing an issue that has started with my 1997 F250 PowerStroke Diesel.
When coming to a complete stop it feels like it doesn't want to stop - have to put into neutral then into drive when able to go (ie at stop lights, stop signs) More often than not the truck will stall and completly shut down. Have replaced upper fuel filter - but truck drives great - until I have to stop and depress brakes - when depressing brakes it's like it doesn't want to stop - any ideas what is going on?? thanks.
Welcome to FTE. Kind of sounds like your torque converter is not unlocking. How does your fluid look? Have there been any other shifting issues or tranny work done lately?
fluids are good nice and pink. no smell, and no previous shifting problems. also no work done on it lately. Dies like a stick not pushing in the clutch coming to a stop.
Then I'd say it sounds like your torque converter not unlocking. Sorry I don't know squat about what causes that. I just push in the clutch when I come to a stop.
If you don't get any advice here, start another post further down the main forum listing in the 94 - 97 7.3 diesel section. There are a few guys down there that know about the E4OD, or maybe you'll get lucky and Mark K will show up.
