hey folks. need some input. my 90 f350 7.3 e4od transmission has been stacking 3rd and 4th too close together. hadnt been a real problem until tuesday. drove to north carolina to get a load of x-mas trees. going up the mountain on the hills, my truck was in 2nd to 4th, bog down go back to 2nd change to 4th all the way up the mountain. anybody got an idea how to fix? do you think its worth changing shift solenoids? any help would be greatly appreciated
no lights on except rear antilock. never seen the od light flashing. check engine light is not on either. tach is working, speedo. works but I did notice when i,m slowing down to around 35 and below that the needle bounces a little. could this be the trouble, or at least maybe? does those shift solenoids ever go bad and cause that or when they go bad they just quit shifting. agrevates me to death lol
went and bought a new speed sensor yesterday, figured i,d put one on it to see if it helped anything. this thing does not look anything like what i thought it would. i guess i was expecting some thing that would spin with the trans.gonna put her in today, see what happens
got my speed sensor on, didnt help nothing. did notice though if i turn off OD and let motor bog down and stomp it down shifts to 3rd so i know 3rds there just wont stay in there driving normal. anybody got suggestions?
thanks so much for the info. however i took a small mirror and flashlight and looked in the connector. maybe a little dirty, but not bad. will accetone and a qtip work to clean it out or whats best
oh, i just remembered something. I ordered my speed sensor picked it up went to install, remember i said looked nothing like what I thought. well it wasent right. took it back said thats what their computer showed for it. i took my old one with me. he did match it to a part number in catalog, and lucky he had one. so after i drove the truck nothing changed, got under it with a mirror and flash light to see in that connector, seen wire harness run to rearend. slid back there pulled the connector apart and its the first part that i took back. this truck dont have two speed sensors on it would it? i figured that sensor was why my antilock light was on. any thoughts
