I think you would be better except for looks with a free flow single if you straighten out the kinks in the OEM system. They are the iggest robbers of performance along with the OEM cat. The duels introduce more bends to the system thus you only gain sound over any real performance. I have a single free flow system to include the cat from the Y pipe back, truck runs better and sounds good also. The shop straightened all the OEM kinks and kept the bend radius to a minimum to help flow.
If you are just wanting sound you should be ok, but if you are wanting to aid performance well you need to rethink your system IMO.
The OEM cat does not rob power. Name one aftermarket cat that firstly flows better, and then that flows better enough to translate to real world power.
