Are IDI's Worth Anything

I have two complete 7.3 IDI engines that I need to get rid of, but I don't want to just give them away! When I look at them on Ebay, it looks like no one is interested. Thought you guys that play with them everyday would know.

The thing is finding someone that needs them.

For the owner yes, for the seller, not really.
The highest I've ever seen one sell for up here in BC is $800, and that was with less than 30,000 kms after rebuild on it...
I did see one for like $1,200 studded and rebuilt w/ E4OD, but it never sold at that price, and last I saw he re-listed it for like $900, and I stopped paying attention after that.
But if you can find someone who likes the IDI's, and has a truck with an engine on it's way out, your golden.

list in the classified ad right here on FTE. Some guys love those old smokers. I have one and I appreciate the simplicity of the old beast.

List them on here, and as long as they aren't in your way, eventually someone nearby will need one (or both). They are getting harder to find, as with the higher scrap prices the last while, a lot of these trucks have been crunched.

If you have a good tranny or two for them they are often in more demand than the engines......

I am in northern IL near Dekalb. One engine is a 90 and the other a 92, the 90 has been sitting for a long time it came out of a wrecked truck with 90,000 on it. The 92 was in a c/c, I had this one running, and drove it around. It seemed to be a good runner, but the odometer was dead in the truck. That truck was also a municipal truck new, and then a landscaper had it, only plowed snow for the last few years, I don't believe it has alot of miles, but the truck was rotted out.

That's what I'm affraid of, I know they have to be worth more than what I could get in scrap for them.

I'd love to come take them off your hands, trick is the funds to get there, as well as give you something for them. That's a pretty good haul to get there, and time is tight for the next 3 weeks minimum, and unfortunately, so is cash... haven't hardly worked in the last month, but I am a full time college student in mid life...

I'm looking for one and have found a few in Minneapolis which is 200 miles away.
The price is around $500. One of them has "unknown" miles or "too many to tell you because you wont want it",

Since I dont need my truck until late spring Im going to keep looking.
