Interco Truxus MT vs M-16
"Hello,
I've got a question. Could you please compare the streetability between the new SS-M16 tire and the Truxus MT, in E-rated sizes like 285 or 295/75r16? I have a 1997 F350 4x4 with a big block 7.5L engine and 3.55 gear ratio. My current tires are 265/75r16 e-rated Cooper Discoverer S/T's. In the future, I plan on putting tru-trac limited slips in both ends and either 4.10 or 4.30 ratio gears. By it's nature, my truck rides stiffer than a buck-board wagon, but I'm a bit disappointed in the tires, which were on it when I bought the truck and still have LOTS of mileage left. They seem to handle weight and wet weather well, but have a howl to them that's a bit louder than I like. It's not obnoxious, but I've had Firestone Destination MT, BFG MT , and Dunlop Mud Rovers in the past; all of which I can't recall being as loud as these are. I do not off-road the truck much, as I plan to keep it in as good of shape as possible. It's not my daily driver, but I do tow a boat, random trailers, haul wood, etc. However; I don't want a highway tire or a light duty all-terrain- and on the flip side, I don't want a full-on TSL mud tire either. I need a tire that is a good compromise; look badass, relatively quiet (or quieter than now), E-rated, sipes for wet & snow traction, somewhat respectable mileage, and a tread that won't make it handle like mush with a load on it. In other words, they have to be reasonably practical and not just a cool tread. I had 31x11x15 Thornbirds on a 95 F150 4x4, and while they are without a doubt the coolest looking tires I've ever seen and were amazing at door-deep snow drifts, were absolutely rubbish every where else and were aeroplane-loud on the street; no fault to Interco, but a poor choice by me. Apologize for the long letter, but would appreciate your advise."
And a few days later; I received this as a reply:
"The m16 would be best for your application. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks "
I was sort of hoping for a little more elaborate answer on why one would be better than the other, etc.
