I have a 38 foot 5th wheel camper (about 12K heavy). I have pulled it before on some short trips but today I traveled about 180 miles (about 4 hours) to Garner State Park, Texas. Compared to pulling down here in my F150 and my old travel trailer, it was a dream. The truck did awesome. It was an extremely comfortable pull even through some fairly steep grade in the Texas hill country.
I ran about 60 to 65 miles per our and averaged about 12 miles per gallon. Not to shabby!!!
Anyway, I am totally pleased with the the towing capabilities of this truck.
I take it you have the 6.7 diesel. 12 mpg is really good. My first big tow was 800 miles and averaged 10.5, pulling a 10K 5ver at 60-65 mph with a 3.55 rear end. I hear of others getting 12-14 mpg with heavier weights than mine. What's the secret?

Yes, I have the 6.7 and the 3.55 rear end. I did slow acceleration and never went over 65. That was it.
All I know is that my father in law gets 14ish pulling his c6 z06 on a featherlite with his 10 dodge 1500 with a hemi.....Im gonna be pissed if I get worse.
We did a 302 mile trip from Bakersfield, CA to Furnace Creek in Death Valley a couple weeks ago averaging 11 mpg pulling our 36' 5'ver toyhauler (12k lbs). I cannot be happier with the combo - makes pulling a joy. Seems effortless!
