Service manual instructs to set the pinion nut to the same torque as originally recorded during disassembly.
Quote, "Rotating the pinion through several revolutions, take frequent cone and roller bearing torque preloading readings until the original recorded preloading reading is obtained."
Pinion bearing preload (used pinion bearings) 0.9-1.5 Nm 8-14 ft-lb
Pinion bearing preload (new pinion bearings) 1.8-3.3 Nm 16-29 ft-lb
