I just installed an AVIC-X920BT in my '06 F250. It replaced the 6-disc CD HU. My problem is that the volume is very low as if it's unamplified. Is there a factory amplifier in this truck that must be turned on?
Does it have this symptom sitting still with the parking brake on? Does the screen say ATT on it in the corner? If so -- or not -- go to page 164 of your 910's operations guide and learn how to change the Muting/ ATT / normal to normal.
It does the same thing all the time. There is no "ATT" or mute in the corner. I'm getting a replacement unit in the mail. We'll see if that fixes it or if I messed up something.
The replacement unit showed up today and did not fix the problem. I put my factory stereo back in and everything works fine. I put the AVIC-X920BT in and it has the same problem, very low volume.
Back to the manual. I gave you info from the wrong manual the first time. This time - the 920 manual. Go to page 170 - 171. Read this very carefully. I believe this is where your problem lies. We had the same issue on a AVIC-X710BT. Also, I am assuming there are no external amps involved here, right?
I figured it out. What's the mostly likely reason it would sound like the speakers are connected to the pre-outs? Because they are. I didn't notice the amplified output wires. I just hooked the speakers up to the RCA connectors which are the pre-outs. Oh, well. It only took a week and a half to figure it out.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. At least you got it without your buddy giving you a hard time. This will be one of those "I'll tell you one of the dumbest things I ever did" things.
