Auto Re-lock?

One feature I liked about my last vehicle, a Toyota Sequoia, is that if you used the key fob to unlock the doors but no doors were actually opened, after a minute or two the doors would automatically lock again.

Does the 2011 Super Duty do something like this? I don't think it does but thought I'd ask. The reason I ask is that on one occasion DW or I must have hit the unlock button by mistake (key fob in her purse, or me bumping my keys, etc.) and the truck was unlocked all night.

If it doesn't automatically re-lock, is there any way to disable the key fob if necessary, other than removing batteries?

that is a nice feature, If the Super Duty doesn't have it maybe you can do an aftermarket alarm?

Mazda has that feature as well. You can change some lock operations if you have the dash display (under settings, locks) such as auto unlock when the truck is put into park but I don't think there is a auto re-lock option but I'm wondering if it could be programed by the dealer. The ability to auto re-lock would seem to be there.

Unfortunately the Fords don't do this. I think my Mazda from many many years ago use to do it but neither of my trucks have. Some times a nice feature but half the time it would lock again right as I got to the vehicle. Kinda pissed me off more...lol

Does anyone else's truck only unlock the driver and passenger front locks when you pull the handle from the inside? That drives me crazy. Meaning, I put the truck in park, pull the handle to get out, and then go to open the back door to get something out and the rear door is locked so I have to use the key fob or button on the driver's door to unlock the back doors. Is this the same for everyone with a crew cab?

Hmmmm, when I got home today I was able to get out and open the back door without any problem. I wonder if it's a setting in the message center or if the child locks are enabled on your truck?

Just went out and checked. Child locks aren't on and I can't find anything in the message center about this. It does it for both rear doors....odd.

There is the auto lock/unlock in your menu. You can have it to auto lock when put into gear and auto unlock when put into park.

The locking part drives me crazy, so I changed mine to not auto lock, so that way if someone needs to jump in, I don't have to unlock the doors, but it does auto unlock when put into park (just in case)

Yeah, I have it set to auto lock and unlock. But it is not unlocking the rear doors...only the front doors. I may have to just set it to not auto lock. Thanks

It really sounds like the child locks are on. Not sure how the system knows that the child locks are on (relay?). Have you tried putting them on and seeing if it still does it? Labelled wrong?

the only reasons i can see for autolock is if you have little kids or your neighborhood is that rough. i grew up with a 66 chevy, even locked pull the handle it opened first pull. i was also raised not to touch door handles unless car was stopped and it was ok. if its the hood well then time to think about moving. yup six of us kids and no one ever fell out of the car moving or stopped, and no one ever just flung open a door and jumped out.mostly just to protect stupid people from themselves. the more dumb people survive to breed the dumber the population gets

according to the manual, it is like my 08..

its turn off the key AND OPEN the drivers door. (not going into park)

Autounlock feature (if equipped)
The autounlock feature will unlock all the doors when:
• the ignition is in the on position, all the doors are closed, and the
vehicle has been in motion at a speed greater than 12 mph (20 km/h);
• the vehicle has then come to a stop and the ignition is turned to the
off ) or accessory position; and
• the driver door is opened within 10 minutes of the ignition being
transitioned to the off or accessory position.
Note: The doors will not autounlock if the vehicle has been
electronically locked before the driver door is opened.

if you use the remote, you can change from front/them back to all unlock

Two step door unlocking
1. Press and release to unlock the driver’s door. Note: The parking
lamps and interior lamps will illuminate (refer to the Illuminated entry
feature later in this section) if the control on the overhead lamp is not
set to the off position.
2. Press and release again within three seconds to unlock the
passenger doors.
The battery saver feature will turn off the lamps 10 minutes after the
ignition is turned to the off position.

One step door unlocking

If the one step door unlocking feature is activated, press and release
once to unlock all of the doors. Note: The parking lamps and interior
lamps will illuminate (refer to the Illuminated entry feature later in this
section) if the
