window wiper problem

Wiper motor won't run but fluid pump works. Looked in the original owners manual that came with the truck it said the switch has a circuit breaker in it but the Chilton book said there should be a 10 amp wiper fuse in the fuse box. there is No 10 amp wiper fuse in the fuse box or a place marked wiper on the box lid. So i'm guessing the wiper switch has a c/b in it. As stated the fluid pump works but the wiper motor dose not. So the switch c/b should be OK
1. Would that c/b also protect the fluid pump?.
2. with key on and wiper switch on i should probe 12v at motor plug ?.
Any suggestions ? Thanks

Easy fix

Should of tried smacking the motor in the first place. A couple taps with a hammer and the wipers work.

The wiper motor and washer pump is protected by the Circut Breaker in the switch. 7 amp circut breaker.

The Chiltons manual is wrong.

Sounds like your motor is going bad though... If it does finally go it is a total pain to change. 60 bucks for a new one but you have to remove the hood, vent and in my case replace a broken windshield and repaint a dented hood...

PIA for sure.

You have to remove the cowl.

Remove the side windshield trim, (the middle windshield trim will come off with the cowl,) the two wiper arms, and loosen the hood and move it forward on it's adjustments, marking the hinges where the hood adjustment was. This will give you enough clearence to remove the cowl, unless the hood is already at it's forward most adjustment.

Tighten the hood with it adjusted forward, so you can push the hood up to work on the cowl, and remove the cowl retaining screws. Remove the cowl. Now you will have access to the wiper motor inspection cover, the wiper linkage, and the wiper motor itself. If the wiper linkage is worn, this is a great time to replace it.

When you get everything back together, don't forget to adjust the hood back into it's proper place.
