I am familiar with BTS but not John Woods where are they located I am aware of where Brian and I have talked with them in the last week concerning transmissions. They were about a month out and were incredible nice people on the phone. Their cost for my tranny was $4500 plus fluids and tax. My transmission is not sick yet, however I am checking replacement costs for when it does. JW may be an option to consider.

The Appointments at the BTS garage for you to come in and watch Brian rebuild your transmission, I am sure has a month waiting list. But I also know that if your transmission is crapped out that he will ship you one that has been rebuilt from what is sitting in his shop. When my transmission gave up in the spring, I called him on a Monday, he shipped one on that Tuesday and it was sitting beside my truck on Wednesday. I live about 250 miles away from him, in mid Missouri. A couple of weeks later I drove down to Lead Hill to return the 'core' of my old transmission. While I was there we talked and I said that I thought that it had a little hardness to the shifting. (Not knowing Brian all that well or BTS reputation, I did not know what to expect). He said that he could 'fix' the shift points and hardness and softness any where I wanted it to be. He changed out a shift plate in less than 5 minutes and we were out for a test drive. It was perfect (to me). I have come to know since then that John Woods transmissions are also very good, but with BTS in my 'back yard', that was the place to go for me. I am one of those 'types' that wants to see 'paper work'. While I was talking to him, I said that your web page said there was two years on 'adjustments' (I am thinking, if this is a battery and it has 'adjustments' of two years, I may have been better off going with a 'Stealer' rebuilt) I said, is there any 'warrenty' paper work? He said "no 'paperwork'....I will 'adjust' on your transmission for two years (for free) to your liking and the 'rest' of the transmission is warrentied For Life..." (meaning all the hardware) I said, "For Life"? Brian then said "Yes, if you tear this transmission up I will fix it for life". That is my kind of garrenty.
John Woods is in Holtville, California. Southern part of the state, between San Diego & Yuma AZ.
As you're in Kansas, BTS is going to be a helluva lot closer!
No doubt I had no idea where JW was located thanks a lot. I have not been to that area of California since USMC boot camp, yeah I was a hollywood Marine.
I'm not knocking BTS at all as I said they were very nice. I was surprised at the cost but I have since made up my mind to go the BTS route. My trans is not sick and has been religiously serviced at every 30k miles. I tow a lot. I was not gonna watch him do it-more like drop it off and go to Taney fishing or the white river or steal your dollar city. I was going to do a preemptive strike on my tranny before it shows problems.
