help with check engine light

i have a 2005 f150 with 5.4 l engine. i just changed fuel filter. i unhooked fuel pump connector and ran the engine till it died to relive the fuel pressure. changed fuel filter and hooked back up fuel pump connector and now i have a check engine light on. is that becaused i unhooked the fuel pump connector? how can i clear the code? i was thinking unhooking the battery. can i run it so many miles and it will reset?

Most anytime you unhook anything electrical it will give you a code or check engine light will come on. The easiest thing to do is stop by an Advance auto parts and they can clear the code out for you with the programmer.

Disconnecting the negative terminal for 10-15 minutes should make the light go off, but won't necessarily clear the code.
The scan at Advance/Pep Boys, etc is free, so it's good peace of mind to at least have them pull and clear the code. At least they will be able to confirm that it was pump related and not some other issue.
