I'm having a hard time finding any information on the axle, or the door axel code. I'd like to know who the mfger is of the locking unit, how it works, ect.
Open axle as far as I know on my FX4, I've peg legged it in the recent cold weather we've had in the PNW, but then the ESP kicks in and reduces power so I don't get to see it all that long. Maybe I should shut it off and stand on it for a while one of these days.
I have LS rear with electronic locker. When I turn off the RSC, it lays 2 black stripes on the road ( and loads of wheel hop too). I don't plan to light up the tires again, the truck doesn't like it.
No they aren't. Go try to build one, you can get Limited slip, conventional open, or electronic locking. There is no limited slip with electronic locking.
L6 is the code for the ELD with 3.73 gears, not limited slip anyway.
According to the code and spinning both tires on take off, it can't be. An open rear will never spin both rear tires under any circumstance. Limited Slip won't always power both wheels anyway, only temporary. Power can go from one side to another depending on the spin. But a locker locks both wheels at the same rotation, so don't ever use it on paved roads while making a turn, or sever damage to the rear can occur. I do intend to look into this slip vs locker issue to try to verify some of the info.

Actually, an open diff will spin both tires if it's slick enough (wet grass/mud). If there's more friction on one tire than the other, then the tire with the least amount of friction will spin but if neither have friction (or not very much of it) they can both spin.
