Question Throttle Sticking

hi everyone,

I have a 2002 F-150, 4.2L, 5 speed. I was on the highway today and the truck started revving high, then as soon as I put it in neutral or pushed the clutch, the engine started revving like crazy!!! (redlining). I shut the truck off and restarted it (it hesitated to start, then it fired), and it did the same thing. I did this for 4 or 5 mins, then all of a sudden it came out of it and started driving normal again. It only does this in cold temperatures. Anyone have any idea what this could possibly be? There are no codes being thrown.

Wild guess but maybe a throttle position sensor?

Well, would that not set a code? Make the engine light stay on?
