Rear End replacement

I have a 97 F150 with the 4.6L 4x4 3.55 gears. I am looking for a new rear end to replace a damaged one on my truck. I found one on craigslist that says it is from a 1994 F150 8.8 3.55 gears. Will this year work with the newer body of the 1997? I was not sure if it was the same width and setup.

nope, wont work. the older fords had a completly different bolt pattern for the wheels than the newer trucks. you have to have a rear end for a 97-03 truck and you have to have one that origionally had drum brakes on it, (so 97, 98 and part of 99) unless you want to do even more work to swap the truck over to disc breaks. when i found my new rear end i had called probably 25-30 junk yards before i found one and then i had to pay through the nose to get it, but it was still cheaper than a complete rebiuld. good luck and keep looking
