No problem.

Just make sure the offset is correct and it doesn't hit anything.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I put some 16 rims and tires on and took it to Firestone to balance the 4 and they (Firestone) said it was dangerous to put 16 on the truck. What is the offset?

Offset and lots more explained:

Wheel Tech - Offset

Gee if 16s are dangerous, why are thousands of trucks equipped with 16s as OEM? (mine included)

If you put the wrong tire on, or if you select some featherweight wheel that is not rated for the GVWR of your vehicle, you can have trouble. But otherwise, there is nothing unsafe about it.

I went from 14s to 15s on my '86 Ranger and am alive to tell the tale. Going from 16s to 17s on my current truck--maybe I should up my life insurance according to Firestone.

AS long as the wheels you use and the tires are rated high enough to handle the highest loaded weight of your truck, then they're OK. But if the new tires are taller than the stock tires, then braking capacity will decrease. You could possibly increase the size enough to make it semi-dangerous, so maybe this is what they were referring to?

Ford Ranger rims and tires

I sure do appreciate the feedback. Would be lost without it. I took the tires and rims off a Dodge Caravan. Will check into the tire and rim capacity. Also will take it to another shop, one that preferably knows what they are doing.

Thanks.

most tire places around here refuse to put on a different tire size than what the door sticker says, even if its just going from a 215-75-15 tire to a 215-70-15 tire. i solve that by taking the wheels and dropping them off at a tire place. their just worried abobout covering their own rears if something would happen and some investgator notices that the tire size doesnt match up with the door sticker. someone is always looking for a reason to go after someone else, nevermind if they didnt have enough air in the tires or went totally sttupid and put 38's on stock ford axles with no brake upgrades. rim size in itself (diameter) isnt going to do anything. as long as the offset is reasonable you should be good. and on a ranger you can pretty much run any passenger car tire without worry of overloading, too tall a tire will affect braking ability as well as quickness of accelerating, may make it harder to start from a stop with a std transmission.
