well, really sorry that i'm coming with an furt thunderdirt on this forum, but ive got a little problem with my tranny....
i believe its an AOD tranny, (electronic overdrive)
i have only 1 & 2 gear....3 and overdrive (4) are gone....or better said....it's going to neutral.....

manual shirt to 1 & 2 going fine.
in Drive mode ( D ) its shifts in the first 2 gears great...after that, the automatic is going ( i think ) to neutral...engine made more RPM then. but got no speed.....the car slows down until the 2nd gear pick's it up again....after that the tranny does the same...like its going into neutral...
but when i put my overdrive off manualy (push button tranny stick) then the tranny keeps it 2nd...but even on the speed of 45mph to 60 mph...its not going to 3th gear...when i put my overdrive on...the tranny goes back to neutral....

the first day this whas happened whas after i was in the ford garage.....put 4 new disc-brakes under the car...after i was leaving them. well, the tranny worked well...i had then all my 4 gears....
when i reached the highway, still had my 4 gears....after overtaking an another car...my (Brake!) warning light came on...and lost my 3th and 4th gear......
results in an broken fuse of brake light????
replacing it works still great....

what could be the problem of this? ( besides its a thunderbird...........).......????
broken 2-3 spring in the tranny?

Its most likely the direct clutch has failed, its a weak spot for this trans and it will have to be rebuilt to fix this.
