I'm 5 hrs from home and my truck starting leaking oil. It's coming from the oil pan where the Dipstick goes in. Checked it and it was loose. Tightened it and it's still leaking. What should I do? Does Autozone have te seal or whatever goes there. I may have to put JB weld on it to get home but that's last resort.
How bad is it leaking. There is an oring but i wouldn't change it that far from home. I need to jb weld mine but it barley drips so i just keep an eye on the oil. Clean it real good with brake parts cleaner and put some good oil resistant silicone on it till you get home.
My 450 started leaking bad last week,I tightened the big nut but still leaks.Almost done with the truck for the season, will tackle it over the winter. If you drop the starter you will be able to get a better veiw of it and easier to work on.Does anyone know if you take the big nut off will the dipstick part stay put on the oil pan or fall in?

If you take the big nut off it will fall in. Now that you know that, the pucker factor just went up, right?
More recently it's been noted that a 45 caliber bore brush is stiff enough and strong enough to hold the piece in place instead of trying to thread a plastic rod like Andy did.

Thank you much.I just happen to have a couple of those brushes.
I guess just to be fair we should also mention another option. You could always drop it off at the dealer for a couple of weeks and pay them a couple of thousand to do it.
