I have a 2001 F 250 Super Duty Desiel, and not sure which system will work the best. And look the best after install. Would like to stay from 200-250 price range.
I know the new trucks have the camera in the handle, but has anyone seen a aftermarket handle for a truck that old that has a camera option.
Any suggestions or comments welcome.
Especially on where to mount camera.
Thanks ahead of time

I hear the wireless one's don't work to good on a crew cab truck (too far) is that right? Gigger
That may have to do with how you install it. I actually cut my camera wires, and spliced in about 9 feet more of wire, so my sending unit is right by the master cylinder. My camera seems to work fine. I don't know how far they can be in order to work. I did mine the way I did, because I wanted the sending unit somewhere dry and safe. There are a lot of systems out there, you just have to get the one that is right for you.

I ran my camera wiring up the length of the frame and the wireless transmitter is sitting right under the cab, I have great reception with my super cab. I used the Peak camera myself...it's cheap and it works pretty well. Rather than splice into my backup light wiring I ran a wire off one of my upfitter switches to power the camera up instead. I bought the 2.4" monitor and stuck it in the cubby hole down beside my 12V power plug on the driver's side, it's down low and out of the way when I'm not using it but I can glance down and see it when I want it.
I was wandering where to put the transmitter. So do you have trouble picking up stray cameras, I noticed several people say that can happen with the wireless. And do you see the hitch well? I pull a trailer daily so I have to hook up at least once a day. Was hopeing to make that a little easier.
So what kind of wire did you use to spice with? I like the ideal of putting under the hood.

I used the Peak as well on my 08. then I moved to the tailgate handle,
then replaced the monitor with a builtin dvd/gps/backup head unit.
I like the peak license plate view better than my tailgate view.
autozone also sells the 3.5in peak system

X2 on the license plate camera. My whole purpose of installing one was to aid in the trailer hookups. The license plate view is just able to show you more.
I used the license frame version, as well. But I wanted a little cleaner look. It is a bit stealtier with the tailgate on, but the 5th wheel is connected.<center>

yeh.. I pulled thru a couple McDonalds and all of a sudden the monitor was showing me pulling up to the order tower..!..
yes, I JUST see the hitch with the tailgate cam I added..
| and the entire reason for my backup cam was trailer hookup.. works great!.. altho I like the license cam better than tailgate cam.. I still have the old handle and might go back.
