OK, Monday I finally got my truck running. Fixed 2 exhaust leaks, new o rings in fuel bowl/FPR, new fuel pump/hoses, installed HPX, gutted EBPV, CCV mod. Drove truck 35-40 miles Tuesday, everything seemed OK. On the way home from work Wednesday it felt like the wind was pushing against front of truck and then would quit, repeat, quit, repeat, but no wind and did not have pick up in 5th going up slight incline. Friday seemed to run better, had pick up in 5th going up same hill. Later that nite, hauled a load of water, same weight I have been hauling all summer with this truck. Usually top the first hill at 51-52 and picking up speed. Made it to 50 part way up, but topped out at 45. Cannot get my fuel psi gauge to read, just bought some fittings to install the gauge without the hoses and schrader, will install as soon as I get home.
Any ideas what has happened to the power???
What is the map hose and where is it?
I think i fixed the problem. Removed schrader and installed 90 so I could connect gauge. Pressure bounced between 40-50. While I had gauge hooked up, shimmed fpr, psi between 50-75 bouncing erratic. Hauled a load of water and power seems to be back to normal. So that means the fuel pump I have on the floor produced more psi than the new one, is that possible?? If so that really p***es me off, guess I could save the old one as an emergency backup. You guys with aftermarket gauges, do you see erratic psi readings? Am going to get a liquid filled gauge and see if that helps.
Where is the oil psi sending unit? I am guessing it is on top of the hpop but want to make sure.
oh yeah I had the same problem attaching fuel injection pressure gauge. because the gauge is 1/4" flare it had to be adapted of course I didnt have a 90* adapter only straight... it worked but it was tight against the lift ring thats there.
I'm not sure. probably not because those are electro-mechanical(?) they use a pressure sensor that converts pressure to an electronic signal that the gauge reads. this so you dont plumb fuel to your dash.
