Are you referring to your self in the name calling since you never checked it out ? Some people don't like shiny chome , but i do. Try some lacquer thinner and the finest grade of steel wool you can find and experment a little bit to see what happens. Unless they sanded and primed real good, paint wont stick on chrome very well. You may be able to rub it with the thinner and get it, i have. There may be rust on the chrome, could be the reason they painted it. Good luck.

DONT USE STEELE WOOL! It will permanently scratch the chrome and knock some of its shine off as well.
Lacquer thinner is fine to use, but may take some time. depending on what paint was used, assuming the old trusted "spray bomb".
You can use easy off oven cleaner. with a razor blade for those stubborn spots.

Aircraft paint remover will take the paint right off and can be bought at your local Auto Zone or Advance Auto. Just brush it on and leave it set for a minute or 2 and wipe off. Just be sure to wear rubber gloves because this stuff is very strong.

I think ' bigdaddys76' is right because every time i get it on my truck the paint comes off if i leave it. Second thought about the steel wool , been a house builder to long and use it a lot,it will scratch. I new better but just wasn't thinking. Thanks 'muladesigns1' for waking me up. Theres proof you should not believe everything you read. L.O.L.

It's chrome. A razor blade glides over the surface.

I only recommended oven cleaner over aircraft stripper because it leaves a lot less mess and is not as toxic to use at home.

Brake fluid? That was a joke I hope.

I spilled brake fluid on the tailgate of my '88 F-250 and the paint slid off like it never was stuck, I dont think he was joking.

I'm not denying the fact that brake fluid ruins paint.
I just can't believe someone seriously suggested to use it on purpose when there are products out there that are more effective, safer, and easier to use. And clean up as well.
Can you imagine that nice slick oil spot permanently stained in the driveway? Haha!

Brake fluid won't hurt most paint if you clean it up. If it is left on it may damage some paint. I thought it was a joke, so went along with it. If you noticed i said "you can not believe everything you read" , L.O.L. Some of the cleaners we used in the construction trade might work. There is one we would use to clean up adhesive after we would do laminated counter tops with. It was a better and safer cleaner than lac. thinner was. would not damage the laminated plastic we installed ,but would get the paint if we got over in it.We would use a cloth towel to apply ,then just rub until dry, then do it again .It may not work at all on the chrome.

I have used liquid paint stripper from wally world on my chrome that had LOTS of paint on it works great, Just rinse it with water and soap. I even used it to take the paint off on the body, Yes a little messy but it works great.
