f450 diffrential

what rearend does my 1996 450 have?right now its geared low, granny gear.i want something better suited for highway and mpg.what can i use?

original sticker not there truck has a diffrent cab off a 150 i was in a bad accident was a rebuildable wreck

There should be a tag on the axle with the ratio, then.
It'll be either a Sterling 10.5 or a Dana 70, maybe a Dana 80 if it was an ambulance.

no tag on axle someone must have opened the cover before i got it.the other truck i had was a 92 f350 it had a 10.25

Post some pics, and someone will be able to identify it. You may have to open it up to find the gear ratio.

F450's of that era came with a Dana 80. More than likely it has either 4.63 or 4.88 gears in it. You can go to a 3.73 ratio and still use the same carrier you have now. I wouldn't go witha faster ratio than that anyhow because of the weight of the truck.
