ok made a new jumper wire from the alternator to the passange side battery get the batteries to read 14.2v i figure the other .4v is due to accessories running like fuel pump and guage cluster, pcm, and ecu. heres the thing the stupid light is still on....driving me nuts
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that if you disconnect the small connector at the alternator and the lamp goes out, you have found the problem, If on the other hand if when you disconnect the small connector and the light stays on, them you have a wiring problem.
no if i disconnect the connector on the alternator it will stop producing voltage tocharge the system i just thought that maybe the loose connection might be the problem.
still looking for a way to make that connector secure since they broke that clip
if you suspect a bad/ loose connector, you might get a replacement from Ed the parts guy on this forum, or go to your local alternator re-builder in your area.
the only reason that i dont think its the alternator is the fact that i will put out 14.6v which seams right but the batteries will not charge to 14.6v only 14v. does anyone now wha the light on the dash is trigger by?
thanks
The plug on the back of the alt, if loose will cause this light to go. Please know aI have not read all of the other post, but NORMALLY, if the light is coming on, it will be the alt. It may be putting out 14 volts, but it may not be a clean DC signal, causing damage to the battery. Good LUck!!
