So I'll skip the whole back-story. A small 3" x 3" cellphone slid into the little "vent" under my passenger seat, and is now resident under the floor in my 2002 Excursion.
We can call it and listen to it vibrating under the floor. It started in the front, right underneath the front seats in the middle, and is now hanging out under the third row seat.
So... how do i get it out? Is there ANY way to access this area? Do I need to ride around with this phone sliding around in here forever? Can it damage anything? And what ELSE might be in there? Im assuming this vent thing is some sort of Air Intake?
Well the intake is right under the passenger seat (front). When we heard it buzzing up front (the phone is on vibrate) it was right in the middle. now that it is in the back, it is in the middle, right under your feet if you were sitting in the middle of the 3rd row seat.

My daughter is freaking out (her phone).
Try driving then slamming on the brakes... this will cause the cell phone to slide forward and maybe you can get it then....
You can try using those fish wires you get at Home Depot or Lowe's and try to fish it out. You'll have to attach a hook or something at the end...or maybe a magnet?
I have a feeling Im going to need to remove the seat. The vent itself goes in too far for my hand to reach. So i think im going to need to remove the seat and pull up the front carpet so i can get in there.

And the phone is plastic. So no magnet
Remove the seats. It isn't that big of a deal. You should then be able to pull back the carpet and access the duct work. Pull the duct out and get the phone out.
Great link! While browsing the hundreds of pics in photobucket, i found this one. Is this accurate? If so, i dont see how the phone could have gone up-hill to the middle, in order to go anywhere else.
I do low voltage retrofits. I use fiber scopes to look in walls. and have retrieval tools to grab wires. Home depot has relatively cheap fiber scopes but they are only about three feet long. One of the tools I use is an extrator which is about two feet long. It is spring loaded and you push a button on the end that opens the "jaws" when you let off the button they close and grab. You could probably send a metal fish tape in, bent with the right hook and retreive this phone. If you try this method, make the hook so it is an open angle(more than 45 degrees) with the very end bent in a tight circle, this way it won't get hung(hopefully) send it as far as you can keeping on one side of the duct. When you pul it back, put pressure so it rides on the other side of the duct and drags whatever with it. repeat bringing the cellphone close enough to grab with an extrator or needle nose.
Unfortunatly the pic codelizard picked is from a 2008 F250. I have followed that thread and that is from the 2008 F250 he is tearing down. Not trying to be a jerk just dont want him looking for something thats not there.
