sorry im a little late to the show but i finnaly rememberd to put my cam in the truck and for the record if anyone decides they want to put in an outdoor wood boiler to heat there home or home's as mine heats 2 houses i would highly recommend a second more less labor intensive form of heating to go along with it...

I prefer to carry my wood in bags... LOL. Here is a picture of my truck this evening with 70-40lb bags of wood pellets, 16-44lb bags of ice salt, 10 sheets of half inch plywood, 30 2x4's, 6-5gal buckets of hyraulic oil, likely 250lbs in tool box (30lb LPG tank, Welding gas cylinder, likely 75 feet of 1/2 inch recovery chain, various ***** recievers etc) $500 worth of grub to feed the crew on the boat next week and three adults.

Thank Bud, I tried everything tonight to get it to work, usually I just put it on photo bucket and copy and paste but tonight it would only do the link no matter how many times I tried. Being that I am a supporter now I thought I could take the pictures right from my computer but that didn't work either it just kept telling me upload failed. Oh well thanks again..

But WVmountainman, don't you know the old adage ?
Wood warms you at least twice, when you cut it and when you burn it !!!
and when you load it and when you unload it and when ....
LOVE wood burning stoves, fireplaces, and campfires next to the RV, but whew, you are right, that Consolidated Dutchwest firebox ALMOST did my back in

I heat a 48 x 34 ft garage with it through the winter. The furnace I use is a Yukon wood / coal / oil furnace. Yukon Husky Wood Furnace from the 70's. The furnace has two thermostats one for oil and one for the wood / coal. The burn chamber for the oil directs the flame into the burn chamber for the wood / coal which means you don't have to light the wood or coal. I set the oil side to 40 degrees all winter (last winter I used ~25 gallons) and when I am going to be in the garage there I set the oil 1 degree higher to start the coal / wood. In about 30-45 minutes I am at 55-65 degrees. I have been burning coal constant for the last two weeks and gone through two wheel barrows (one per week). I set it to 55-60 degrees on the coal side, as any less just creates too much ash / soot. If you ran it year round on coal @ 55 degrees I would estimate you would need 3-5 tons depending on the outside temperature. I don't break up the large chunks as long as they will fit in the box (~12x12x36). They burn, just need a little more agitation. We were at -11 last week and we are at 50 today (the weather is drunk).
The coal here is bituminous coal (soft) which does not have the high BTU / low ash rating of anthracite (hard) found in the east. This is also run of the mine instead of washed or sifted so you get a fair amount of fines in the mix. If I had more time last year I would have had a larger wood supply as I like to mix it 50/50 coal / wood. The wood is by far cleaner but the coal can add long burn times.
