Convert to Delay Wipers?

What is involved in converting standard 2 speed wipers over to delay wipers? Seems like it would be more than just the switch.

That would be awesome because the switch is fairly cheap all things considered.

It takes a different switch and a what Ford called a "regulator" box that plugs into the wiring harness and the switch..

I converted several back when I was working for ford in the 70's.

I think there is an attached box which is the timer ?? but I think it was wired directly to the replacement switch, but it been awhile since I added that setup to a truck as I have a friend that brings me all his 73-79 trucks for work but like I said its been a few years and I have worked on hundreds of other cars/trucks since..

Well LMC sells the standard switch for $14.99 and the switch for delay wipers at $44.99. Seems like the cost difference might include the regulator box. They don't mention it separately anywhere that I see.

just make sure you double check on that one as now that I think about it I think I remember there that seperate short harness with a plug attaching the 2 as "White 97xlt stated , but my friend always brought that conversion to me as a unit.. this is an easy job and shouldnt take you more that 20mins to do as long as the control box is included with the switch..

Too bad LMC doesn't show a picture.... Oh well, there are plenty of other places to buy parts too.

Such as e-bay for example... watching one will try to pick it up cheap.

I've read some people just grab the switch and delay box from the 1980-1991 trucks. Supposedly it works but you have to plug your washer pump connector in upside down after the swap. ? I actually bought 2 set ups from late 80s truck but have not had the time to try them out yet on my 1976 and 1977 so I can't verify this works but the connector is the same. Try a search and you'll find several threads stating this.

Good info. I'll look into that if my bid plans don't work out.
