According to the Ford Build your own website there is no options for anything other than the shift on the fly transfer case. Is this the case? I guess I'm old school in the fact I like to feel the positiveness of pulling the shifter in manually to be assured of full engagement. My 2007 has the manual t-case and that would be my preferance. As usual Thanks for the feedback.... Scotty
The XL and XLT come standard with manual locking hubs and the manual shifter. Byram is correct that you can buy the ESOF and auto/manual locking hubs as an upgrade on the XLT line. I like the fact that they allow you to manually lock the hubs in case of auto hub failure. As well, I like the ELD capability. IMHO, much better than limited slip.
When I greased the yokes on my '08 it took all of 10 minutes to remove the main drive shaft. I would think that doing so would be the best way to pull your truck behind that Phaeton. I didn't have to remove the whole shaft but it was very easy to do the front joint so I am sure that the rear joint at the diff would also be very easy.
