first of all Thanks Lazy K for helping me with the tranny. while i was under there i noticed oil leaking down the exhaust manifold. I'm new, i have an 89 E-350 van (just purchased) haven't exposed the motor. this oil leak seems to be in an odd place??? remember i'm a newbie
could possibly be coming from the valve cover, then running down onto the manifold. Thats what mine does anyway. Im too lazy to put new gaskets in there.
well you have to be.. just open the hood and pour another quart in there.
Ahh! breathe deep!, love that smell of burning oil on the exhaust!
Valve covers are a PITA on EFI small blocks, have to remove upper intake for pass. side. Budget a few hours on a Sat. for this job.
Well that changes the game. Yes, its going to be a pain, I have worked on Class C motorhomes(1 ton van chassis) with the 460. tight working space to be sure. You will be doing most of the work from the doghouse side in the van.
that being said the fella that i just purchased the van from said that there are two manifold bolts that are snapped off (issue for smog inspect.) I guess i need to go buy some beer and get busy. do any of you have some advise for me as far as replacing the snapped head bolts? Also while I'll be in this area what else should i adress. when i get this thing on the road i want to be confident
