Bed Power Supply

Anyone know a location and color for a always on 12 volt power supply wire around the tailgate area?
Thanks in advance.

There is one in the 7-point that you could tap into. I don't know the color (I'm thinking brown) but a quick google search for 7-point pinout should get you what you need. HTH

I may be wrong here, but isn't the auxillary wire in the 7 way only "key on" power?

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. I know that when my DW managed to drain the battery on our 5th wheel, I had to plug into the 7-way to retract the landing gear. I don't remember having to go key-on to use this power supply, but it would make sense for it to be key-on only. If that's the case, then I doubt there is an always-on lead anywhere near the tailgate =\

When my horse trailer is hooked up I have to turn the key on in order to turn the stall, tack and outside lights on. I got a free set of bed lights with my exiting solid fold and instead of connecting them to a upfitter switch, I wanted to be able to turn them on at any time regardless of key position without running all the way to the battery. This is a lonnnnggg truck!

Time to break out the meter. I bet it's the last wire I test!
