service managers know how to kiss the customers a&& and chew out the mechanics ??
sound like a politician in the making !!

Probably depends on the service manager. Mine does some of the mechanic work as well. So he understands what we go through and he was a mechanic for 10 years at least before doing the service writer job.

there are good service managers and bad ones out there , a good one can make all difference in the work environment !

One thing I've notice is that when we do a timing belt if the water pump is timing belt driven it gets replaced no matter what as part of the timing belt change. Cause there are some timing belts that you just don't want to have to do twice. But yes your service manager can make or break your working atmosphere.
