excessive backlash
Got a 99 f150 with 4.2 and when you start truck and put it in reverse, holding brake and not moving the driveshaft turns quite a bit. Then you hear a thump when DS stops, and it looks like the entire rear diff moves downward. Going from reverse to drive holding brake it goes smooth, but going back to reverse same thump. This happens only sitting still holding brake. Sometimes when you stop and then start to move it fells like truck runs up and over a small pipe. Im thinking its bad bearrings in rear diff but has anyone else had this problem if so am i correct or could it be something else. Thanks for all the input in advance
