Oh come on now. Don't tell us you just drove that 30 feet! You had to just take it out for a short spin right?

The last time I had tags on it was 1976 and about 20 years ago got it to run on and off for a couple of days.
The "drive" was about 150 feet. One of the header pipes is off being tweeked so I got DW to put on ear protection. She pulled the batt charger leads off, closed the hood, and off I went.

notes;
after a 10 mimute warm up the right radiator-engine pipe is stone cold, the left is so hot you can't hold your hand on it.The rad doesn't have any cold spots.A faulty thermostst?I'll replace both.

The gastank appears to be fine. Not a speck of anything in the g3 or sediment bowl.
Everything is full and nothing leaks(so far)! I'm stoked the waterpumps don't leak. One spun freely but one would only turn one way after I unsiezed it.I got it to eventually spin both ways. The oil and water haven't mixed that I can tell.
This is way too much fun.
Cheers

That's great, it's hard to believe it's the same truck from the first picture in your album and a 150 feet is a milestone. I couldn't even push mine that far, lol. Good job.

The Gallery pics were a pic posting test with a 1951 Ford F1 Parts truck.
The picture is a 1951 Mercury M1 I got in 1971.It looks exactly as it did when I paid $300.00 for it.
Not quite exactly....the wheels changed out to 215/75-15 235/75-15 7"used ford brand rims.(rim #2 entered the electric derusting tub yesterday),and the mouse ear turn signals have been removed.
The Sheridan Blue had been painted over with flat black brush job. The folks I bought it from were Hutterites as I recall. The door jams are Blue,as are a few other missed places.

I think this is the first picture that posted good which is most encouraging.I'll work on a post with pics of the whole drive.
Capone,what a Ride You got!

LOL. Dang I was getting ready to ask you what brand bulldozer you used to drag it home. Your truck reminds me a lot of my truck when i first got it running. Every single day it will get better from here on out. Get yourself a compression tester and you'll find out really quick about stuck valves, etc.

Hi Mountian Doc,
I did a cold compression test last August and 2cylinders were 70 psi(and held) the other 6 were 110psi and held.
You are sure right about it running bettet every day.
Today was the the day that Julies Cool "How to start a Flattie" got the test....a couple of pumps 3/4 choke and it fired up in 4 Grrrs!!
Mountian, great advice.Things are pretty loud when it runs.I'll finish the exhaust and check stuff. It's neat when stuff runs .
