First Snowflakes!!
Then I can make my own confusing 3rd mark
Yet there was a ton of vehicles wiped out all over the place, and in ditches... People talk **** about californians up here. But I find the life long residents tend to be worse, because they get so cocky they don't respect the road.
(We're about 15 miles west of Port Washington indicated in this summary):
February 23-26, 2007 – West-central through southern and eastern Wisconsin
– Two-round storm, with one overnight the 23 rd to 24 th , and the second round
overnight the 24 th into the 25 th . Leftover snow accumulations continued
overnight the 25 th into the 26 th . In counties surrounding La Crosse, 8 to 15.6
inches (Galesville) fell in round one, while round two produced 6 to 12.5 inches
(Sullivan NWS office) over the southern three-fourths of the state. The leftover
snow added another 1 to 4 inches, except for 6 to 14 inches from New London
into Door County. Many locations totaled 20 to 25 inches for this long-duration
two-punch episode from around La Crosse to Port Washington, and a small part
of Door County. Gusty winds generated snow drifts up to 5 to 7 feet in height.
As if the snow wasn't bad enough, the drifting was enough that I'd have to plow the driveway 2 or 3 times a day even when it didn't snow!
Then the next year:
February 5-6, 2008 – A long-duration, massive winter storm with near-blizzard
conditions pounded southern Wisconsin with 10 to 21 inches of snow.
Thundersnow and a few gusts to 35 mph reduced visibilities to ¼ to ½ mile.
Drifts to 4 to 5 feet in height were reported. A huge vehicle-backup incident
occurred on Interstate 39/90, mid-way between Madison and Janesville that
closed the Interstate. At least 1548 vehicles were stuck for 10 to 20 hours in both
directions. The greatest accumulations were 18 to 21 inches in parts of Rock County, southeastern Dane County, and southwestern Jefferson County.
Milwaukee Mitchell Field closed for several hours at the height of the storm.
I finally jacked the dang truck up 4.5" so I don't have to keep digging the dang body out of the snow drifts

Last year wasn't any better either! It's no wonder I about killed my plow truck over the last 3 years. Last year was the worst because I not only blew out a transfer case (2nd one) I cooked the transmission (nothing left of the clutches to grab heh) and cooked the front wheel bearings. I'd spend so much time plowing and not going anywhere that the gasser didn't have enough air flow/radiator to cool the engine. I switched from mechanical fan to dual electrics and it still couldn't keep up, so I'd have to plow for a while, then go drive around the block to cool it down so I could finish plowing. There were a few nights I'd park it and within a few minutes she'd be boiling over from the built up heat.
I think my diesel will fare much better
But I won't be sad if I don't see any snow for a while... sorry to all you guys making money on plowing lol
