What's the point? Moisture barrier? Dust "barrier? I pulled the panels off of Patience last weekend and saw some (likely) aftermarket plastic. (It was pink.) Needless to say, it was in bad shape and almost non-existent. What's the best material with which to replace the original? Vis-queen? A garbage bag?
I'm pretty sure a PO put that their, I have no clue why. I did have a 05 vehicle that had a bunch of plastic under the door panel, I had to pull it all off to work in there.
You can use any plastic drop cloth sheets, or insulation covering. I try to find the thickest possible. I have noticed the the cab gets and stays warmer in the winter with the plastic in place. Most vehicals have them originally.
The original was a heavy petroleum impregnated kraft paper. I have used 6 mil visqueen before. On my 78 I covered the whole area with dynamat. It made a huge difference in the noise and moisture coming through the panel. If I need into the door I will just cut out the hole and recover it when I am done
Normally called a moisture barrier used for what it sounds like. Keep water outa the open parts of your door. Doesn't matter much when the window stripping has craked and lets water through though.
