So the rear functions properly, i.e. both heat and cool act the way you would expect them to? The front jumps around on you from hot to cool regardless of where the dial is set? I'd guess it is the blend door in the front.

Sounds like your A/C door isnt closing or is broken. They are real known to break. This will cost you about $1000 to fix unless you use the Heater treater. I just installed one last weekend and it was a easy job. The A/C /heater works great now.

Unless they do the work themselves and then it is under $50.

Check the actual temperature control **** first before assuming the blend door. My heat was blowing luke warm, then hot, then cool, and all over the place and it landed up being the ****. Under $30 from the dealership. The blend door symptoms should be radical temperature changes. This is because the door is swinging on its hinges and not connected to the actuator. (This is what I gather from reading posts here).

I only had hot blowing out of the vents at all times. The door was stuck open when I looked at it. I guess it all depends on when it breaks and a what point it is at open/close.
