I recently bought a use 2004 F350 6.0L PSD with 122,000 miles on it. After driving it for a few weeks I realized it was getting absolutely horrible fuel mileage. It does have a bit of a life on it and it's running 35x12.50x18's. I knew it wasn't going to get the best MPG but this is what it's getting.
City: 10 MPG (No matter how I drive)
Towing: 7-9 depending how I push it. (27' Travel Trailer. Approx. 7-8000 lbs.)
Highway: Haven't driven enough to calc.
I'm not sure, computer wise, how the truck was taken care of, if the previous owner ever tuned it or had it re-flashed. My question is: Should I get the truck re-flashed, hoping this might help some of my mileage issues? Or just leave it be and buy my tuner to fix the problem? Any input or suggestions would help.
Sorry if I have left anything out, first time poster here.
The big wheels/tires are gonna effect your mileage. You bought yourself a BIG freakin' truck and you expect good mileage? Fergetaboutit.
I knew I couldn't expect great mileage with the truck because, yes, it is a big truck, I just thought I would get better than 7-10 MPG. Oh well. I guess it is what it is. Looks like I may re-flash it for some upgrades and get my tuner and drive it til it pukes. Thanks.
