Boost hoses
I have a 2004 F250, 6.0 with just under 100K. I noticed that the turbo hoses are covered with thick dried oil. It's not wet, but feels greasy. It's covering the blue hose and a few inches on the metal pipe. The clamps seemed tight, but I could get a turn on each one without over tightening them.
The hose on the lower left under the battery is the same. Completly covered.
Does anyone know what causes this?
Thanks
P.S. I also took out the EGR to clean it. It was mostly dry carbon and a little greasy on the bottom of the valve. It cleaned up nicely and moved freely.
I was set to add pictures, but I couldn't find the 'Manage Attachments' button. In the posting rules it says "You may not post attachments"
You can't post attachments yet. But you can store photos on free sites like photobucket and then include href links in your post so the photos will display. That's how most of us do it, even though we could upload attachments if we wanted. It's too much hassle to manage them on this site.
Welcome. (well, you're not exactly a new guy)
