Interesting Pricing

Not sure why, but I found it interesting that the pricing structure has seemed to change on the '11 SD XLT.

Right after purchasing my truck, at the end of September, I went to the Ford website and priced out the exact same truck and viola the price matched the window sticker ($54K)

Yesterday I did the same thing and the price on-line was $1000 less ($53K).

So my theory is that they inflated the earlier price in order to provide a $1000 XLT package discount on the window sticker. This is assuming that the package discount incentive has ended.

The net effect is that the truck costs the same, but I guess that it didn't dawn on me that Ford would manipulate the pricing.

Does anyone know if this is a common occurance?

I don't have the patience to order a vehicle, so I don't know but would hope that the dealership would honor the price they quoted. Good luck.

Yeah, I noticed mine went up about $400 from the DORA to the window sticker and the price level changed from 125 to 130. I signed the purchase agreement at the 125 price level when I ordered so I expect to hold them to it - we'll see.

the $1000 deal is confusing, until I learned what they were doing I thought I was being ripped off. the computer does not show the $1000 XLT value discount only the window sticker does. if you do a build and price, then the website just shows 1k less on the build in price.

Did anyone notice on the build and price website, the 20" wheels are not shown as an option? Or is it just that I can't find them?

Joe. When choosing options on an XLT (I assume Lariat, etc. too) the 20" wheels are on the exterior tab, scroll all the way to the bottom.

Yea - I saw the same thing late summer or sept. - the 1k discount was gone but the base price was 1k lower also...

Kind of pissed me off - but I got over it...

& yes there was a time where the xlt discount showed on the "Build & Price"..

maybe they just decided to re-word the pricing... instead of an "XLT Package discount" which may not make sense to some, they just lowered the price of the XLT package... I don't know, but if the net price is the same, why fret?

I'm really not fretting it just looks kind of "gimmicky".

Almost like a store raising the price of a product, putting it on sale for the original price and then telling you what a good deal you got.

I guess to me it just seems like a different way of saying the same thing. What irks me is the new rebates that always come out the day after I buy something. They got me this time with the trade-in rebate. it came out immediately after I traded for my 2011

Yea - I got the 750.00 about 1 week after the deal - Talked with my sales guy (he's a friend) & they couldn't do anything the way the paperwork was done..

But he gave me a couple of freebees Not worth 750 - but he didn't have to do anything...
