Need help with rear power slider problems.

Hey Guys, I’ve got a 2004 F350 with the power rear slider. The slider wasn’t working so I took everything apart and discovered the problem was the cables were actually cut that connect to the bottom of the window. I found a used motor and cables that I installed (that was a pain in the you know what).
When finished I have some issues:
  • The window will open but will not close. I disconnected the wiring harness from the motor and reversed the wires with some gator clips and was able to close the window by using the “open” side of the switch. When I tested the switch it “seemed” to work properly, but since the switch is what changes the polarity of the wires to the motor doesn’t it seem logical the switch is bad? It did open and close a couple of times and then quit. Interesting, the switch for the power pedals also seems to work intermittently at well. Could this problem be related or possibly just two bad switches?
  • The window moves real slow and definitely doesn’t sound like it’s moving smoothly in the track. I cleaned the track with compressed air, sprayed some WD-40 in there with little improvement. Any ideas as to what could be done to resolve this problem?
Thanks for your help and input.

I have a 2007 that is supposed to have the same rear window. I purchased the truck without the automatic rear window and am planning on changing it back over. I have heard that these windows don't last very long and for this reason most people don't use them that often. On the problem that your having on the switches. I would try and bypass the switch one at a time and see if this fixes your problem. I don't think it will but do not know for sure unless I was able to test it by taking it out of the loop. I am leaning more towards it being the window motor. If this is the original motor and you use it a lot, then I would bet that you need to pull the motor and take it down to an electrical repair shop and have them rebuild it. I could very well be wrong about this though. Hope this may help you out.

use my power slider everyday and have for the 2yrs I have had it ,, no issues other than it wasn't plugged in when I got it?

if the window being slow problem it's either too much resistance in the window track ;cable system ,, or a weak motor

as far as reversing// a tester should point you in the correct direction
