A shop replaced my radius arm bushings (poly) already and several thousand miles later one of my rear brackets has cracked. Rivets were replaced with bolts when bushings were replaced and I would like to replace the brackets myself. What is this job like? 1996 Bronco.
I'm retired now and have time do do this kind of stuff again. When I'm to able to finish a job like this it's pretty satisfing. I use to do all my basic mechanical work but work and family got first priority. I miss the days of my old 74 CJ. That was an easy vehicle to work on.
Poly bushings typically last longer and can take a bit more abuse however, the rubber versions tend to transfer less road vibration through to the brackets and frame. This leaves the rubber with a generally better feel on the road but the poly a stronger option for off-road and harsher driving conditions... and lets face it, if you are traveling off-road the slightly harsher ride isn't going to be an issue.
