sounds like u blew the intake manifold gasket... that would whistle... and prolly backfire... best bet would be to scan the codes

my 302 has a whistle but its caused by the butterflys in the TB... missfire could be a dead plug or a dead wire... maybe a coil... could even be a spark plug tip mashed flat...
I think the johnson rods are worn. I would get a Chiltons and browse for johnson rod repairs, under the "engine" section. The whistling is a dead giveaway.
If you're wondering, a johnson rod is a device that is connected to a gazach via a knibbling pin. Probably what happened was the johnson rod fell from the gazach because the knibbling pin fell out.
