I need help. I have a '92 f150 and my door handles keep breaking, i realized that maybe my cables for them are stretched and i need to adjust them but i have no idea how to do that. im tired of rolling up and down the window just to get out of my truck.
Are you buying replacement handles at the dealer or at someplace like Autozone? The ones from Autozone (or the other parts stores, they all sell the same ones) are cheap and break easily. Try one from the dealer if this is the case. Also, pull your door panel and make sure everything is lubed and adjusted properly.
I am buying the ones from auto parts stores and i will look into getting ones from the dealers but i still think i need to adjust and maybe tighten the cable?
Texasguy001 is correct. I have the same problem with my 96 f350. I tried the used ones first. Bad move, broke again within 3 mo's. Then my local wrecking yard had new plastic, or something close, handles. They lasted 8 or 9 months. Then he found medal ones. I bought 2 sets, just in case, for under 25.00. Haven't broken one yet after 2 years. Did have to add a washer or spacer. Unfortunately he retired earlier this year but the point is they, someone, makes after market handles. They tell me the replacement cable cost close to 100.00. Good luck.
Seriously!!! You had to start a thread on a topic that has been on the 1st page for at least a week? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-breaking.html
I realize the search feature here is not good, but come on.
