i have a 1994 f150 4x4 with a 5 speed and it originally had a 300 i6, but the guy i got it from swapped it out with a 302 5.0
heres the part im stuck on, my dad has a 79 ford with a 351m/400 and were wantin to put in my 94 what all would i need to do that? bell housing, wiring harness for a 351m, and new mounts for a 351m?
another question since my 94 had efi and an electric fuel pump and the 351m is carberated would i need to swap it out with a mechanical pump?
Bell housing, mounts, manufacture a harness, ignition, fuel pressure regulator, custom exhaust, and thats just to start... the big question would be why??? A good running 5.0 is going to make just as much if not more power than a 351M. If you are wanting to do a swap for cubes and horsepower, a 460 is the way to go. If you just want to heat things up little bit, stay with the 5.0 and add some tweaks to it.
I agree with the previous poster for sure! 351 modified was terrible design
heads were pitiful!
your already set up for a small block. i would at very least stick with a 5.0 roller engine.
A. makes nice hp
B. reasonable fuel milage
C. super easy to find junkyard parts and build
D. very easy to find HP upgrade and after market parts. Ebay, craigslist, etc..
If you really wanna be gutsy go for a roller 351 windsor and slap a cobra intake on it and 24lb ford motorsports injectors and a E cam. just my 2 cents
Keep the 5.0 man. Save the money that u would use to swap an engine, and build that thing!!! Is there a reason u want to rid the 5.0? Is there somethin wrong with it? Swapping out motors to a different motor can big a real big job, but to people like me i dont see it as a job but as a challenge. But it is ur truck, do what u want. Im not gonna be drivin it so who cares. Do what will make u happy! just my .02. good luck
your best bet for an engine swap if you want something bigger is going to be a 351w. It's a bolt in and if your truck is MAF,the computer will run the engine fine,no need for a different one.

Say what? I disagree with u on that. They where/are very good motors. Doesn't take much to get some good hp out of them. The heads where very good flowing for a small block, only stock small blocks that had better heads where the 351C. BUT, if u want to swap to one, you need a whole Tranny if you have a 5 speed. ONLY the 4 speeds had removable bellhousings.
if the 351W will bolt up to my tranny and motor mounts and i can use the same wiring harness ill just go get a 351, the reason i was goin with the 400 is because it was sittin in our shop and i wanted to have a little more power behind the truck, theres nothin wrong with the 302 like i said i just need a little more power because im pullin out that twin I beam front
suspension (which in my opinion is the worst thing ford ever made) and
puttin a dana44 in the front and a 9 inch in the rear
