I have a really dumb question, well actually a few questions but on the same subject!! lol So I recently got my 95 F250, 351W up and running again, had a couple problems, and it seems like it's still having some effects. Anyways here are my questions:
1. How would the vehicle act/accelerate if the spark plugs were bad?
2. How would the vehicle act/accelerate if the spark plugs were NOT gapped to engine specs.?
Newbie questions I know, I know what the spark plug does, but i've wondered if the plugs were bad how would my truck act?
1) If they were BAD, it wouldn't run. If they were worn, it would run poorly. Note "poorly" covers the entire spectrum from just not as well as perfect up to but just short of not running at all.
2) It might run poorly, see above.
IF there is a question about plugs, replace them. Gap them properly, don't drop them, and install them correctly. INSTANTLY, you remove the "What about the plugs?" variable from the list of possible problems with the engine.
Do yourself a favor and change the plugs. It never hurts, and plugs are cheap. Then you know your plugs are good.Dont waste your money on high dollar plugs either,MOTORCRAFT ONLY.
"6 liter tune". What's that, 6 liters of some snake oil in the engine, or you drink 6 liters of beer and feel better about it? Sorry, haven't heard that one.
From what I've seen on this forum, a "6 liter" tune up is basically an MSD cap, rotor, and coil. Bigger spark plug wires and new spark plugs, and you advance the timing like to 12 or 14 degrees...
a 6 liter tune up is a high output coil, bigger performance plug wires, a quality cap and rotor, and new plugs.... The purpose of all of that it to enable you to set a wider plug gap with a hotter spark and the timing to 13 degrees BTDC, thus enable more complete combustion. Increasing mileage and power. Report vary from 1-5 MPG increases. And the butt dyno's say a few more ponies.
