Axle seal leaking ... Again
I replaced my rear axle bearings and seals about 3 months ago. I've put maybe 500 miles on it but today I noticed the unmistakeable dribble of gear oil on the driver side rear.
My question is this... I KNOW the seal is new. What could be causing the leak and how can I make these bearings last a while longer? I really don't want to go tearing the rear end apart...again.

You will need to clean and/or replace the breather tube that goes from the top of the axle to the frame. Also take the fitting off of the axle where the hose attaches to the axle and clean it as well. There should be a check valve on the end of the hose that will need replacing or just cleaning. This same thing happened on my 67 f250. Let me know how it goes.
