Exercise, eat right, plenty of rest, no stress.... and one beer a week

welll, maybe two beers a week if you do all of the rest of the list.

Get well soon.

I was wondering if it was the same one he had placed just a few months ago.

I know there is a failure rate on stents, but like Phyllis, I'm curious why they didn't opt for a bypass.

I grew up with a father who suffered COPD and CHF. My dad had three open heart bypass surgeries. My mom has had a triple bypass surgery, as well as having angioplasty three different times, twice with stent placements.

My brother even had to have bypass surgery a couple years ago. And while COPD runs in our family, his was brought on due to everyday stress for years and years while working at Sac PD.

Running the police academy, being a Sergeant in Internal Affairs, and subsequently being transferred into a newly formed "homeland security" type department, coordinating with the Federal Homeland Security, FBI, and other agencies took it's toll.

My brother is actually very lucky to be alive even though he was a health nut, because the type of blockage he had isn't usually found until after a person suffers a heart attack, usually a fatal one.

I've had regular stress tests for 5 years now, even though I was only 40 back when I started having the tests run, because of the family history.

Rick can do it. He can bounce back and lead a great, productive life like my dad did, and my brother and mom are both doing, IF he makes changes.

A proper diet and regular exercise will do him a lot of good.

Rick just needs to get pissed off at whatever is causing his problems, (stress, diet, health, genes, etc), get his stubborn streak revved up, and put the smack-down on the problem.

I know he can do it. He hasn't made it this far because he was wishy-washy and lackadaisical in life.

All you guys out there who think you're ok and not at risk, it sure wouldn't hurt to get checked out.

Stewart

So sad to hear about this repeat sitaution for you Rick, but even more GLAD that the surgery went well.

Mind your p's and q's and get well soon.

Everyone else... there can also be a genetically driven predisposition for blockage... my Dad had that in the veins in his legs. It isn't always only diet/lifestyle driven.

Just spoke with Phyllis via Facebook. Rick came home this afternoon. He is sleeping now. I'm sure if he's up to it, he'll be online tomorrow. I think his laptop is kept at the store, so I don't know if he will be or not. I know he misses us as much as we do him. We all hope to see his green dot shining soon.
