Got tangled up in life for a little while, but I am back on the project. I have purchased a set of headers for the 460.The trans. is a little more than i want to get into, since I don't have a back-up if things go wrong. It will be easier to get the drive shaft modified. I plan on dropping the engine in the truck tomorrow.

Well the engine and trans is in the truck,it all bolted in nice.My new motor mounts work like a charm and I even have more clearance between the oil pan and the cross member so I can remove the oil pan without any problems. The drive shaft has to be cut,but everything else fit nicely without any problems.I still have a little work to do but I will be rapping it up in the next few weeks as I get time to work on it.Between the weather and working,it's hard to find the time.I don't have a garage so bad weather has played a big part.

well some time has went by but I'm back on the project.Everything is in and wired up.I was able to use a single drive shaft out of a F350 by just installing a special u-joint readily available at any drive shaft place.I am having some problems on start up.it will fire up and idle for a Minuit or two but spits back through the carb and dies.If you give it gas when idling it will shoot flames out the carb and die.I rebuilt the Holly 4180 and it still does the same thing.I didn't move the timing and I have triple checked my firing order and my Duraspark 2 module wiring using diagrams. The engine ran fine in the old truck and I didn't change anything.all vacuum lines are hooked up.I did change it to a mechanical fuel pump ,and removed all emissions components. could anyone give me some insight on what I am doing wrong? Please help,I am at a point where I need this truck to run.

I know you didn't move the timing but check it anyway. I've had the roll pin on the distributor shear and move the timing when it wedged itself again.

It turns out it was a carb problem.
