I'm certain that I'm going to need injector(s) soon. 03 6.0 w/ 135,000mi. Rough running when cold, no power issue. Switched to synthetic oil and hasn't changed. The question is, do I do all the injectors or just the one(s) that are sticking. Also, I've been checking prices and for stock they range from $185 to over $300 plus the core charge. Money is tight as usual so I'm looking for the best deal for the money.Any recomendations for the best deal?
If you found "new" Ford injectors for $185 plus core that's a great price. Have you tried Rev-x for your injectors. It's an oil additive and has worked GREAT for a lot of folks. It takes two bottles for $68 to treat your engine. Definitely worth trying if you're sure it's an injector--get it code scanned first just so you don't make an expensive mistake.
I've thought about rev-x but if I have to add it for every oil change that would get a little expensive over time too.I would like to solve the problem and not just put a band aid on it.
Have you ever had your processors updated (flashed)?
I wouldn't rule out the Rev-X if you are strapped for cash. It seems to have worked for quite a few folks according to the posts around the various forums.
You might also want to check your FICM voltages. Also check fuel pressure.
IMO these injectors can last a lot longer than 135k miles - unless of course there is an underlying problem like low fuel pressure.

From the people I know that have tried rev-x it's NOT something you have to add to your oil every time, because I asked the very same question. I haven't tried it yet, but I haven't had a need.
I have my truck to a dealer a month ago for a coolant flush and was going to have a reflash done, but they said there were no codes and a reflash could actually cause problems since there were none. Checked my FICM voltage 2 months ago and I know it was at least 48v w/key on and cranking. I've never had the fuel press. checked. My batteries are original (03) so I'll probably replace them soon. I've read batteries can cause problems too. I've had no problems w/them but willing to give it a try.

I am surprised that the dealership would say that a flash could cause problems.
About the batteries - do you load test them regularly and/or test them w/ a hydrometer? You may not think they are an issue when they really are. If they are weak, they can put stress on the FICM soldering and components. Then time takes a toll .....
Be careful on who you buy the injectors from - some companies have a reputation for high failure rates.
From what I have read, FullForceDiesel is probably the best place to go, but certainly not the cheapest.
For stock injectors go to the cheapest Ford dealer you can find. For modified sticks........Ryan Casserly @FullForceDiesel.com is the man. Customer service second to no one.
I've never load tested them. But since they're 7yr.s old I'll probably just replace them. I was a little disapointed they wouldn't do a reflash but I figured the knew more than I. I was just looking to see if rev-x was cheaper at one place or another. I think I'll just get it from the rex-x site. If I do go w/new injectors I'll probably just go w/stock.
What is your truck doing when you say 'runs rough'?? I wonder if its like mine.. Mine has done it over the summer a bit too lately. What I experience is slow starts, meaning a tad bit more cranking then usual then it'll fire to life. Once it starts it kind runs rough a bit like an injector isn't firing right and I get some smoke out of the tail pipe.. Once it warms up the truck runs just fine.. I think this might be injector stiction? I haven't tired any hot shots or rev-x products yet..
The next question I would have is how do you tell which injector is causing it?? Mine aren't throwing any codes. I've checked the FICM and it has plenty of juice. I haven't done a fuel pressure test yet as well..
When I start it, it sounds like it has a miss. I saw a good you tube video this morning and the truck sounded a lot like mine when cold and after adding rev-x the cold start sounded alot better. If I'm parked on a hill my truck won't even think about moving until it warms up a little. I figure I'll have to take it to a shop or dealer to know which injector(s) are bad.
