I have a 1993 F-150 302 (5 l 4x4 and can't find the DPFE. Three Autozone guys could not find it. I give up. Do you know where it is, or who I should ask?
I thought those two terms (DPFE and EGR Valve Position Sensor) were pretty much synonymous. I swapped "it" out on my Expy this summer. It was throwing a CE light. IIRC, it was about $17 at Checker.
Dano's right. You don't have one. You have an EGR valve position sensor. And three Autozone employees who need to be replaced.

DPFE means "Delta Pressure Feedback" and uses exhaust pressure through a silicone hose and other stuff I can't remember. 3.0L Rangers have them, but not the big trucks. Different part than an EVP, but more or less has the same purpose.

While they are they are not, they both monitor egr function just do so different ways.
EVP just monitors the valve position, if it opened or not. Easy to disable, just block the tube, if otherwise left intact it'd still pass emissions testing.
DPFE actually monitors the egr flow, it monitors the pressure in the tube on both sides of a small orifice, its hard to fool, can't eliminate it by simply blocking it off. The computer would know and throw a code, fail emissions testing.
Newer models use the DPFE sensors. Expy Explorer I take it? yea they have em, had to replace it on one we had to. That and the egr tube, little more then 17 bucks for it though!

Are EGR Position Sensor and EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor Mutually exclusive?
I can find the EGR Position Sensor on top of the EGR valve. However, Autozone's computers (and web site) list an EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor (DPFE). O'Reilly's web site does not list a EGR Pressure Feedback Sensor.
