Hello everyone. My name is Ben and I am going to attemp to swap the cab and bed from a 1982 F250 2wd,300 6cyl to a 1987 F-250 4x4 300 6cyl. Looking at the Chilton,Haynes, and LMC books all the cab mounts look to be the same. i havent took any measurments yet, and the manuals dont really give that type of info. My 87 has lived a rough life as a work truck, however the drivetrain is still in great working order. The 87 also had a run in with a angry wife and a ball bat, its less money to buy a old truck and swap than it is to replace all the windows. Anyway any ideas tips or just want to know how its going please comment. I will get some pics going soon. Have a great day

Cab and bed is a direct bolt on other than the bottom fender bolt. But the dash will bolt in differently and the 87 most likely fule injected so you will need to swap the harness
your right the 87 is fuel injected. do you have any idea how much work is involved in swaping the harness. do you think that the older cab is somewhat compatable to put a newer harness in. im sure that i will have to replace the fuse boxes and the brain.. thanks for the info
You can make it be compatible. If it was my truck I would pull the entire dash and everything out of both and swap the new dash into the old truck. It would make it alot easier. When i scrapped out my 88 F350 this summer i was surprised at how little there actually is in the dash for the wiring but everyone here says to go with the newer dash and I would take their advice.
